Three Masks is an art gallery and store that’s sole purpose is to share Africa from within. It’s one of the most talked about and well-supported African establishments in the downtown Orlando area. “Our pieces are directly from Africa, from countries like Cote d’ivoire, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa to name a few and work with local artisans with whom we have developed a long standing relationships, ” according to threemasks.com. Every final Saturday of each month the owner, Timothy “Bushman”, hosts an event called #ArtTalk where he brings together the community and diverse artists. There’s food, art, music, spoken word and several vendors that tie in with a common theme: Preserving African culture in modern times. If you’re looking for an authentic spot to immerse yourself in your roots, #threemasks is the place for you to be. I attended the last #arttalk event on November 26. It was amazing to be around supportive and people with a sense of self. Here’s some of the beautiful photos I was able to take.
